Winter Re-Visited

So, I wanted to finish telling about my winter break. Considering it is almost spring break.. I think I need to do this now. It is not my fault that this is so late! I was waiting for pictures from Levi :)

Before we went to Zion and Lake Powell we went to Pine Top and stayed in Becca's cabin with an amazing group of people. We were there for about four days including New Years. The day we arrived we all relaxed and hung around the cabin. I then realized Mal and Ryan were up there! So they came over and we all enjoyed each others company. Levi and Ari drove up later that night and were expected to arrive by midnight. However, somehow..they forgot to pay attention to where they were driving and ended up in New Mexico!!! I still don't understand how this happened. Anyway, the rest of the trip was filled with incredible conversations and of course pleasant trips to the almost completely frozen lake. On New Years Eve we walked down to the lake for the midnight cellebration. We then went back to the house to have fun with some explosives. It is also tradition every year for me and Bec to be the dummies of the group and walk on the extremely thin ice. This is the very first year we didnt break through and fall in! I am very proud of us. Here are some picture Levi took of us during this adventure. (He joined in out there too).

Valentine weekend

Valentines weekend was so fun. We spent most of it in San Diego with Levi's family. His brother and family came out along with his step mom and little brother. We stayed with his cousin Eean and family and there were little kids running all over ther place. On Valentine morning we went to breakfast with my Aunt and Uncle who live in Ocean Beach and then went back to the house to take naps (it was a very long night before). The next morning we drove back up to Santa Barbara and saw Slumdog Millionare! It was incredible! oohh soooo goood. Definitely worth seeing in theaters. Oh and Levi and all his room mates appreciated the cookies and rice crispy treats.

Lessons Learned

Have you ever painted your nails and then gotten hungry? Oh and then realized you had nail polish on your tongue? Yep, did that today. Learned that lesson real fast.

So then you re-paint your nails and then remember you want to do your hair today... learned that lesson also.

So re-paint nails again... and yeah, finish packing? I think I'm losing my mind. another lesson learned.

Now I shall re-paint again, when I should be studying for my exam.

Here's to a day of bad ideas.

It's a Pink Blush Day

What girl doesn't want an excuse to put on some lip gloss, pink blush, and 50's home maker inspired baking accessories? Well, this is one of my favorite things to do while making goodies. Today was my perfect excuse to play dress up. I baked the entire day in preparation for Valentine's Day with Levi! I am leaving tomorrow night to see him so I had to get everything done today. Now I will be in the library the rest of the night preparing for my exam and writing a paper (what I should have been doing all day). Here are some pictures from today's activities.

some key ingredients, and my new oven mit.

the cookie cutters i bought!

getting started. Apron was a gift from Courtnee, Skirt was a gift from Amy.

these did not turn out how i was hoping.

mmmm

welcome to the mess I made.

The three kinds I made are: white/milk chocolate chip, milk/dark chocolate chip, and M&M/milk chocolate chip. Sadly, the hearts only turned out for about three of them because they were too close together and got all smooshed. I also couldn't remember the recipe while I was making the first batch.. so I had to wing it. But, I remembered for the next ones at least!

Then I made these for the first time...

These hearts turned out WAAAYYYY better. Successful first time Rice Krispie Treat making.

Because Christy Cares

Since Christy is in London, I decided to post some outfits. Because even though we may be far apart, we still care about what the other is wearing. Obviously. And Christy I am pretty sure you are the only one that looks at this little blog of mine. :) So, since I am going to visit Levi this weekend and typically you are here to judge my outfits... I figured I should put some of them up.

Outfit One:

I am thinking this one for the airport? It is simple, and very comfortable and Levi will recognize me from a mile away. (Do you like my nice touch with the suitcase? ha to put it in perspective). These jeans remind me a bit of the 90's. I have not had faded jeans in sooo long. But they are the most comfy things in the world, I pretty much wear them everyday now.

Outfit Two:

I'm thinking this outfit would be perfect if the sun happened to come out and give us a warm day. It would be wonderful for a walk on the beach. It is completely modeled after the photograph I have hanging on my bathroom wall of Audrey Hepburn (below).

These will be the alterations I make if it is cold and rainy... which it has been the past week. Possibly no scarf.

Outfit Three:

This little number is for the very slim chance(since we are broke) that Levi and I go out for Valentine's Day. Haha we shall see.

Little Extras:
Here are a couple outfits that I may or may not bring to California.

This was a day Amy and I were going to lunch at Olive Garden to visit Cass. She bought me the scarf in Spain!

Here is me right before class. Sadly this is a completely different gray sweater than the lunch with Amy one. I just couldn't help myself, it was so soft. And here are my 90's jeans again.

Of course, the everyday boots.

Here are my nails. I am not really a fan of black nail polish but I will forever be a fan of the almost black marrooonn... And clearly I could not paint over my busted pinky because I like to watch its progress.

And obviously there are many more that I did not post because one can only take so many pictures of themselves. But don't you worry I definitely planned everything from the pens and pencils I will have in my purse to the PJ's I'll wear. haha. Well Christy I hope you enjoy! I love and miss you and can't wait til you come home! And I will of course post pictures from my trip :)

Freezing Winter

So, I have not written in a very long time. I have started a new semester filled with a lot of new stuff. Winter break was wonderful. Levi came home which was a wonderful change of events considering he had planned to be in India the entire time. This gave us a chance to spend a good chunk of time together! it was amazing. Four days of that chunk of time was spent camping with his roomate Garret and his best friend Ari. We had planned to go to Zion National Forest in Utah and camp and do an intense hike. However, when we arrived the first night at about one AM it was FREEZING!!! So we all laid in the tent on the side of the road just waiting for the sun to come up so we could leave. That night we found out got down to 6 degrees! We woke up and there was snow on the inside of our tent from our breathes! aahhh too cold. So we found a nice warm restaurant and got hot coffee and thawed out there for a couple hours while we planned where else we could go.

After much discussion we all agreed to go to Lake Powell. We figured it would be slightly warmer. So we went there and it was much warmer! We all slept every single night with very little problems. It was still really cold but it was much better than Zion. And the lake was beautful and there were plenty of rocks for the boys to throw. The trip was a lot of fun with a lot of relaxing and good company. We went into town every morning and found an adorable little coffee shop. The lady working was very sweet and loved hearing about our camping adventures. We also met a nice man who brought us some fire wood and told us where we could find some more FREE fire wood. Everyone was so friendly there. They were all willing to help us out and point us in the right direction. We stayed at Lake Powell for two or three nights? (I can't remember) and then we all headed our separate ways. Levi and Garret headed back to California from there and Ari and I headed back to Phoenix.

I'll soon post about the other winter adventures that were had!

Amen sister

"Amid attempts to protect elephants from ivory poachers and dolphins from tuna nets, the rights of children go remarkably unremarked." -Anna Quindlen

Los Ninos

This photo is my favorite one from my final photo project for class. In my series it is black and white and the entire project is about child abuse. woo hoo, be an advocate for the kiddos.

Also, tomorrow night I am flying out to the beautiful Santa Barbara! I get to stay and visit Levi until Monday afternoon. I am sooo excited. So tonight, I am trying to get all of my papers and assignments finished so I do not have to worry about anything this weekend. ahhh, can't wait. Have a good weekend everyone!
